Famous Japanese animation studio, Studio Ghibli is set to reveal their next project on December 16th.
Founded by Hayao Miyazaki, Studio Ghibli is behind many anime classics such as “My Neighbor Totoro,” “Grave of the Fireflies,” and “Spirited Away,” which was the only anime to have won an Oscar for Best Animated Feature.
The announcement about the new film was revealed on the Ghibli Asemamire radio program by producer and former Studio Ghibli head Toshio Suzuki. The new film will not be Miyazaki’s next film, however. Instead it will be helmed by a new director with plans for a theater debut sometime next year.
So where’s the great Miyazaki you must be wondering? Well he’s hard at work on a different project, and has been keeping busy animating a television commercial — which will most likely be the end all, be all, of TV commercials.
