Remakes, board games, toys… the barrel that producers are willing to scrape in search of their next Pirates of the Caribbean knows no bounds. With GI Joe and Transformers 2 coming out this summer and rumors flying about everything from Candyland to Ouija boards, Hollywood is having to dig even deeper into the compost heap of pop culture to find an idea they can pass off as new. Enter Stretch Armstrong.
You remember him, right? the rubbery dude in a wife beater you could stretch as far as you wanted and he’d always come back to his original shape? Well, “Bruce Almighty” writer Steve Oedekerk has just agreed to write “Stretch Armstrong,” a superhero comedy based on the Hasbro-owned toy.
Amazingly, this isn’t the first time a Stretch Armstrong movie has been in the works. back in 1998, Disney tried to make the film with Danny DeVito and later Jackie Chan.
