‘Suicide Squad 2’ Casts Its Villain

Of all the things that didn’t work for Suicide Squad, their villain was at the top of the list. Now that James Gunn has entered the picture, we know that we’ll at least get an entertaining movie. Today, we also learned which villain the team will be going up against and who will be playing him. The choice is just weird enough that James Gunn can probably have a lot of fun with it.

THR is announcing that Ant-Man/ MacGuyver actor David Dastmalchian is set to play Polka-Dot Man man in the film. He’ll be joining a cast that includes returning castmembers Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), and Amanda Walker (Viola Davis) plus new talent in the form of Idris Elba and John Cena.

If you haven’t heard of him, don’t worry. He is such an obscure bad guy that he’s even the but of a joke in the Lego Batman movie. According to Wikipedia, Polka-Dot Man first appeared in Detective Comics #300 in 1962. “As the fearsome Mister Polka-Dot [the character’s original name], he wore a bizarre costume covered in spots, the point of which soon became apparent – once removed from the costume, the spots could be used for a variety of purposes, creating deadly weapons and a bizarre escape vehicle.”

Essentially, the Suicide Squad will be going up against a walking LSD trip. Sounds right up James Gunn’s alley.
