The cameras from Red Cinema have become the cutting-edge piece of equipment that everyone wants to use in Hollywood right now. Lucky for James Gunn, he was able to shoot The Suicide Squad on it, and from the look of the new footage released as part of the Red Cinema featurette, it looks like it is lucky for us as well.
From writer/director James Gunn comes Warner Bros. Pictures’ superhero action adventure #TheSuicideSquad featuring a collection of the most degenerate delinquents in the DC lineup. RED went behind the scenes with James Gunn, Henry Braham, BSC, Nikolas Korda and crew on the making of the #TheSuicideSquad. Together, Gunn and Braham evolved a dynamic shooting style that they agree wasn’t possible before the creation of RED’s latest camera innovations. “The Suicide Squad is a rollercoaster ride on the big screen,” Braham says. “You want the smallest physical technology you can possibly have with the best picture quality you can possibly achieve. That’s the case with RED.” #TheSuicideSquad, in theaters and streaming on HBO Max* August 6.
“Welcome to hell — a.k.a. Bell Reve, the prison with the highest mortality rate in the US of A. Where the worst Super-Villains are kept and where they will do anything to get out — even join the super-secret, super-shady Task Force X. Today’s do-or-die assignment? Assemble a collection of cons, including Bloodsport, Peacemaker, Captain Boomerang, Ratcatcher 2, Savant, King Shark, Blackguard, Javelin, and everyone’s favorite psycho, Harley Quinn. Then arm them heavily and drop them (literally) on the remote, enemy-infused island of Corto Maltese.”
