Summit Entertainment’s ‘Ender’s Game’ Gets Release Date

Yes, folks, “Ender’s Game” the movie really is happening.

Summit Entertainment has announced that the much anticipated big screen adaptation of Orson Scott Card’s “Ender’s Game,” directed by Gavin Hood, will be released on March 15th, 2013. The film is currently in early production and casting is currently underway. Card himself will pen the script.

I’m not sure what to make of the march release date. It’s kind of that dead time before the summer blockbusters hit. Perhaps Summit is unsure about how well it will fair against stronger summer competition and wants to test it on its own.

“Ender’s Game” is a science fiction novel set in Earth’s future. It follows the story of Ender Wiggin, a young boy who’s a tactical genius trained and sent to fight a futuristic war. Oh and there’s space incest aliens. Like a lot of them.
