‘Tales From The Crypt’ Set To Return With New TV Series!

EC Comics’ “Tales From The Crypt” who enjoyed a lengthy seven-year run on HBO is hoping to make a come back with a new hour long adaptation. According to Deadline, the new series won’t be related to the original and is said to not be anthological.

The updated adaptation will be developed by the original series’ creator Gil Adler and Andrew Cosby the co-creator of Syfy’s Eureka as well as the co-founder of the comic book publisher BOOM! Studios. Here’s what Cosby had to say about their plans for the new show:

It will be an ongoing series that uses characters from the comic books in a more modern context. It’s all about continually elevating the genre, for both existing fans of the source material and mainstream audiences.

The new series is in early development stages. As of now, no network is in place but producers have already begun pitching to networks, both for basic cable and paid. Cinemax has also apparently shown some interest in taking on the project.

“Tales of the Crypt” was my favorite show growing up, whether the HBO original or the censored syndicated series. There’s nothing I’d love more than to see it come back and I can only hope that it does get picked up by paid cable so it can be as unrated as possible!
