Last weekend at the movies was not a huge surprise. Quentin Tarantino’s “Inglorious Basterds” took a baseball bat to the heads of the competition and kept swinging until there was nothing left but a bloody stump and a pile of money. Meanwhile, the new instant classic, “District 9” dropped just under 50% for a second place showing at $18.9 million for the weekend. Rounding out the top five were “G.I. Joe:The Rise of Cobra” at $12.5 million, “The time Traveler’s Wife” at $10 Million and “Julie and Julia” at $9 Million. Look for all those rankings to change next weekend when “The Final Destination” and “Halloween 2” Hit over 3,000 screens each.
