We’re a long way off from seeing Matt Reeves’ The Batman starring Robert Pattinson in theaters. Hell, we’re a ways off from the film returning to production. Now, word has come down that HBO Max is taking a cue from Disney+ and is expanding their film universe through the use of live-action series.
The new series, created by Matt Reeves and Terence Winter will be a new police procedural set in the Gotham city that will be brought to life in The Batman. Here’s what the press release from HBO Max had to say:
The groundbreaking television series to be written by Winter is set in the world Reeves is creating for The Batman feature film and will build upon the motion picture’s examination of the anatomy of corruption in Gotham City, ultimately launching a new Batman universe across multiple platforms. The series provides an unprecedented opportunity to extend the world established in the movie and further explore the myriad of compelling and complex characters of Gotham. This marks the first television project for Reeves under his recently announced overall deal with the Warner Bros. Television Group.
There are currently no other real details about the show or whether or not Robert Pattinson will appear as either Bruce Wayne or Batman.
