Amazon Prime’s latest comic book adaptation, The Boys is set to drop on the streaming network this Friday and from the looks of the final NSFW trailer, it’s going to drop like a ton of bricks.
Admittedly, I only read the first volume of The Boys before it started feeling a little too gratuitous for my tastes, but it looks like we are in for a fairly faithful adaptation from the source material. Even if you never read the book, the cast alone is worth giving it a shot. The final trailer actually gives us our first look at Simon Pegg who is playing Hughie’s dad. It’s a great little Easter egg as the comic was initially conceived with Pegg as the model for Hughie. I guess it just took so long for them to make the jump to real-life that now he’s old enough to play his own dad.
People love that cozy feeling that superheroes give them, but if you knew half of the things they are up to…diabolical. Time to declare war. Full Season Coming July 26, 2019.
