According to German website MovieReporter.net (via TheOneRing.net), Peter Jackson (“King Kong”, “Lord of The Rings”) confirmed that his script for “The Hobbit” is currently on its second draft and is on schedule to begin filming next summer.
The script is due to be completed sometime in December or January, with shooting to take place in the summer of 2010. However, because the script isn’t completed, the studio cannot in good faith green light the film as the necessary budget cannot be calculated.
“We’re currently working on the second script which we hope to have completed by the end of this year or beginning of next. When the scripts are completed, we can begin with the exact calculation of the necessary budget. We hope to start filming in the middle of next year. However, we’ve received no green light from the studio yet,” Says Jackson.
Fans shouldn’t worry too much if any with this news. Nothing is going to stop this film from moving forward and especially at this stage. Not especially since “The Lord of the Rings” franchise is the studio’s golden goose and one of the most anticipated upcoming films.
Peter Jackson’s “The Hobbit” is still due to debut in December 2011 with the proposed second film due in December 2012.
