D23 is this weekend and it will bring with it news on everything from theme park rides and Marvel movies to new Disney+ series announcements and toy reveals. However, one of the biggest topics this weekend is going to be Star Wars. Along with The Rise Of Skywalker hitting in December, Disney+ is prepping the release of their live-action Star Wars series, The Mandalorian. We already know that a new trailer will be dropping for the latter during tomorrow’s panel, but today we just got a new poster.

We don’t usually critique posters, but something about this one is rubbing us the wrong way. On one hand, we love it. It’s a Star Wars poster. There are very few Star Wars posters that don’t immediately bring us joy. On the other hand, this poster feels more like a polished Disney movie promo and less like the gritty, real-world vibe that we’ve heard Jon Favreau talk about over the last year or two. In the end, it’s just a poster. It doesn’t mean anything in regards to what we’ll be seeing on the screen. Tomorrow’s trailer will do a much better job portraying the vibe of the new series.

The Mandalorian stars Pedro Pascal, Nick Nolte, Werner Herzog, Gina Carano, Carl Weathers, and Giancarlo Esposito. Jon Favreau wrote the series and directed at least one episode, while Taika Waititi, Bryce Dallas Howard, Dave Filoni, Rick Famuyiwa, and Deborah Chow each signed on to direct at least one themselves. The Mandalorian will lands on Disney+ on November 12th.

After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.
