The Most Unnecessary Of All Time: Roland Emmerich’s ‘Asteroids’

The relentless adaptation train is rolling on but the tracks are getting thinner and thinner. That means that studio execs are having to dig deeper than ever before in their quest to get a familiar brand that they can exploit as a movie.

The newest movie that has just been set today is, if you can believe it, a film adaptation of the classic video game, Asteroids. Roland Emmerich, the master of disaster is in talks to direct the movie. His previous hits include Independence Day and 2012. Lorenzo Di Bonaventura will be producing. You can see his handywork very soon when “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” is released.

Stay tuned for the inevitable news on film adaptations for Frogger and Burger Time.
