When the man behind films like ‘The Fifth Element’ and ‘Taken’ makes a movie about escaping from a prison in space, you know you are in for a good time. You have to admit that the trailer to Luc Besson’s newest sci-fi action film, “Lockout” looks pretty damned spectacular. With a cast that includes Guy Pearce, Maggie Grace, Peter Stormare, Lennie James and some truly stellar effects, I know that my ticket money is already spent on the film.
There is one curious thing that I have to wonder about the film. When Besson made ‘Taken’, Maggie Grace played the girl who gets kidnapped. In ‘Lockout’, Maggie Grace plays the girl who gets kidnapped.
Does Besson have some sort of damsel in Distress style fetish for the former ‘Lost’ star?
Official Plot:
A man is wrongly convicted of conspiracy to commit espionage against the U.S. He’s offered his freedom if he can rescue the president’s daughter from an outer space prison taken over by violent inmates.
