The Orville was a surprise in every possible way. Coming from Family Guy’s Seth McFarlane, we expected to see a show that was pretty much a parody of Star Trek. We could never have imagined that we’d get a series that was a better follow up to Star Trek: The Next Generation than any Trek series currently streaming on Paramount+. We were bummed out when Fox canceled the show but thrilled to hear Hulu was going to save it. It looks like they didn’t just save it, but they may have thrown even more money at it than its original home.
We haven’t seen a new episode of The Orville since April 25, 2019, so it was almost starting to feel like the Hulu series wasn’t happening, but we’ve now got a first peek and a premiere date of June 2, 2022. The sneak peek is split between an action-packed space battle and the opening credits for the new series. If what they are showing is any indication, Hulu is putting some muscle behind the show and we are in for a real treat!
