After nearly a year of teasing, we are just a month away from the premiere of The Watchmen on HBO. The new series will be picking up several years after the original comic book series and film and will focus on a time when masked vigilantes are hunted by the law. We don’t want to spoil too much more than that for fans of the franchise, and honestly, HBO has been pretty tight-lipped about the whole thing.
The Watchmen premiers on HBO, October 20th and stars Regina King, Jean Smart, Don Johnson, Jeremy Irons, Tim Blake Nelson, Lous Gossett Jr., Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Tom Mison, Frances Fisher, Sara Vickers, Hong Chau, Andrew Howard, Jacob Ming-Trent, Dylan Schombing, and James Wolk.
Set in an alternate history where masked vigilantes are treated as outlaws, WATCHMEN, from executive producer Damon Lindelof (Emmy® winner for “Lost”; HBO’s “The Leftovers”) embraces the nostalgia of the original groundbreaking graphic novel of the same name, while attempting to break new ground of its own. Nicole Kassell directs the pilot from a script written by Lindelof.
