It seems like Marvel’s parent company Disney is doing some reshuffling of their movie release dates. One noticeable change is with “Thor 2,” which has been moved from July 26th, 2013 to November 15, 2013. Officially taking it out of the busy summer schedule. Taking “Thor 2’s” July 26th spot will now be a big screen version of “Phineas and Ferb.”
Directed by Patty Jenkins, “Thor 2” is slated to begin production next April.
Honestly, I’m not sure why Disney decided to move “Thor 2,” a proven winner that kicked off summer this year and didn’t completely tank at the box office. It makes me question Disney/Marvel’s faith in the sequel. Is it because it drops after “The Avengers,” and they figured the momentum would be gone? Do they not have faith in Jenkins, who’d be the first woman to direct a Marvel film? Sound off and let us know how you feel about this change in “Thor 2’s” release date.
