Marvel Studios recently announced that “Thor 2” will be a thing in 2013 and actor Chris Hemsworth will reprise his role as the God of Thunder as he’s still under contract. The sequel will however be without director Kenneth Branagh, as he will not direct the sequel.
According to Deadline the exist was “mutual and amicable.” Branagh will most likely still be involved in some producing capacity.
Slated for a July 26, 2013 release, “Thor 2” will follow Robert Downey Jr’s “Iron Man 3” which has been set for May 3rd, 2013.
As of now “Thor” has grossed $437 million and counting worldwide.
