Just months after the death of William Hurt, the man who played Thaddeus E. “Thunderbolt” Ross in the MCU, Marvel has announced that they are developing a Thunderbolts film. The news isn’t really a surprise. Ever since Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (julia louis dreyfus) started poking around characters like US Agent and Yelena Belova, the writing was pretty much on the wall.
We don’t have a ton of details about the new movie yet, but we do have a director in the way of Jake Schreier who previously helmed flicks like Dave and the indie movie, Robot and Frank. No cast has been officially set for the movie, but the rumor roster has teased John Walker/U.S. Agent, Baron Zemo, Abomination, Yelena Belova/Black Widow, Ghost, Taskmaster, and Winter Soldier as possible members as well as some new, unnamed characters (at least new to the MCU).
Superman is currently scheduled for release on July 11, 2025
The new series is set for a two-episode premiere, June 4 on Disney+.
