This is just a theory, and it’s not even a rare theory, so you’ve probably heard it already. There’s just no way that this film isn’t the precursor to the Dark Avengers, MCU style. Sure, it doesn’t have Norman Osborne, but it does have Thunderbolt Ross/ The Red Hulk. It also doesn’t have Daiken, but you don’t really need him to make the story work. All the other pieces, including The Sentry are in place, and it looks like what we know about Captain America: New World Order is going to cement them. It’s been a thought in our heads ever since Feige put that damned * at the end of the Thunderbolts* title.
With all that said, this trailer was a lot better than we were anticipating. Does that mean that a film made entirely of characters no one has really grown attached to (other than Bucky) is going to be good? We hope. We hope it’s great. The MCU is on a pretty tight leash right now and they cannot afford much more failure. So for now, we’ll just stick with this being a really good trailer and we’re starting to get excited about seeing more.
Marvel Studios and a crew of indie veterans who sold out present Thunderbolts*, an irreverent team-up featuring depressed assassin Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) alongside the MCU’s least anticipated band of misfits. The film also returns to the screen Marvel Cinematic Universe characters Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), Red Guardian (David Harbour), John Walker (Wyatt Russell), Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen) and Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), in addition to some exciting new faces.
