Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg have become a serious powerhouse team when it comes to adapting comic books for live-action. They not only killed it on The Preacher, but they may have actually topped themselves with their adaptation of The Boys for Prime. They’ve also already killed it on animation with their critically acclaimed Sausage Party. Now they are going to get a chance to find out if they can do a comic book property justice in an animated movie as they join the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Team.
Let’s face is, the Turtles haven’t had a great run on the big screen in the last several years and the newest cartoon series has been a pretty big let down to fans of the property. Injecting the humor of Rogen and Goldberg could be exactly what the show needs, especially when you consider that they bring a lot more than jokes to the table. They’ve managed to produce some seriously compelling storytelling, and that is something the TMNT franchise has been sorely lacking.
Here’s what Viacom CBS President of Kids & Family Brian Robbins had to say about them joining the team:
“Adding Seth, Evan and James’ genius to the humor and action that’s already an integral part of TMNT is going to make this a next-level reinvention of the property. I’m looking forward to see what they do, and I know that Ramsey Naito and her team are excited to take the Nick Animation Studio into another great direction with their first-ever CG-animated theatrical.”
