I was simultaneously thrilled and pissed off by TNT’s The Librarians. On the upside, I thought it was one of the most fun new shows in the last year. It’s the kind of show that makes you smile, much like ABC’s Agent Carter. On the flip side, I felt like the show was a little bit of a bait and switch. I was a huge fan of the Librarian TV movies that TNT has been pushing out for the last five years or so. I thought that Noah Wyle was great in the role, the stories were a lot of fun, and the supporting cast (consisting of comedy legends: Bob Newhart and Jane Curtin) rounded things out perfectly. That’s why I felt so let down when I realized that none of them would be appearing in the show much (if at all), after the pilot. Still, with a solid new cast that included: Rebecca Romijn, Christian Kane, Lindy Booth, John Kim, and John Larroquette, the show quickly won me over.
If you haven’t had a chance to catch the show, now’s a great time to pick it up online or on demand. Season two will be heading our way later this year with 10 new episodes of fun and adventure.
