According to reports by Showbiz 411, Joss Whedon’s “The Avengers” will be shot in 3D. This is great news because it means it’ll probably be a film actually worth seeing in 3D, unlike “Thor” and “Captain America” which are 3D only after being post-converted. Boo!
Although I’m not a huge fan of 3D and still find it gimmicky, I can’t help but imagine how Whedon will utilize it to serve a better narrative purpose, rather than… you know, just have %#&@ fly at your face. This is how much confidence I have in Whedon. To make 3D not suck.
“The Avengers” stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, and Mark Ruffalo. Filming will begin February 2011.
