Earlier today we learned that “Star Trek” and “Home and Away” star Chris Hemsworth was cast in the title role for Marvel Studios’ Thor. Since then, Deadline Hollywood Daily has broken the news that Thor’s eternal nemesis and half-brother Loki has also been cast and will be played by Tom Hiddleston.
Hiddleston, the award-winning British actor and Royal Academy Of Dramatic Arts (RDAD) graduate was last seen playing Winston Churchill’s son in HBO’s “The Gathering Storm” and has also starred in “Ivanov” and the BBC miniseries “Wallander” with “Thor” director Kenneth Branagh.
“Thor” is expected to debut on May 20, 2011, while “Avengers,” which also stars Thor, is tentatively set for a 2012 release.
