The first trailer for “Red,” an adaptation of the Warren Ellis comic series has been released by Summit. “Red” follows the story of a retired black-ops CIA agent currently targeted by a hi-tech assassin.
The film stars Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, Morgan Freeman and John Malkovich. And surprisingly it is directed by Robert Schwentke (The Time Traveller’s Wife, Flightplan) whose to his credit has never really done an action comedy until now.
I haven’t read the comic so I cannot comment on how faith it is to the source material, but from what I can tell, it looks like a ton of fun.
Here’s a plot synopsis:
Red is the story of Frank Moses (Willis), a former black-ops CIA agent, who is now living a quiet life. That is until the day a hi-tech assassin shows up intent on killing him. With his identity compromised and the life of the woman he cares for, Sarah (Mary-Louise Parker), endangered, Frank reassembles his old team (Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich and Helen Mirren) in a last ditch effort to survive. Also in the cast are Karl Urban, Brian Cox, Richard Dreyfuss, Ernest Borgnine, Julian McMahon, James Remar and Rebecca Pidgeon.
“Red” is set to open on October 13th.
