Sure, the first Pacific Rim movie is still several months away from release, but that doesn’t mean you can’t plan ahead… right?
My hopes and fears for Pacific Rim are running around 50/50 right now. I have complete faith in Guillermo Del Toro and his great cast, but I’m worried about the public embracing a giant robot vs Kaiju film. Legendary Pictures apparently has more faith than me because they’ve already started working on the sequel and they’ve tapped Travis Beacham to write it.
He won’t be at it alone, Guillermo Del Toro will be supervising him, but there’s no word on if he’ll be directing or just producing the sequel. The great thing about Del Toro is that he has a ton of amazing projects on the horizon, the bad thing is that it means it could be impossible to get his time free to direct the film himself.
