Well here’s a no brainer. After raking in $86.6 million dollars at the box office this weekend, Universal Pictures is without a doubt planning a sequel. It makes sense considering the premise of “Fast Five” which played out like a prequel to a soon to be heist film. And if you stayed through for the credits then you most definitely know that the story has only begun.
Director Justin Lin recently confirmed that a sequel will happen in a statement saying:
“After this big weekend, we’re going forward, It’s pretty much 100%. It’s going to happen. At five, we’re just hitting our stride,. We’re growing. People want to continue this journey. ”
Screenwriter Chris Morgan who penned the third, fourth and fifth “Fast and Furious” films will tackle the sequel which may or may not be called “Fast Six.” Looks like when we did our review of the film, we weren’t off calling it an “Ocean’s 11” type shift.
