Fans have been asking for a sequel to Edge Of Tomorrow since it first hit theaters in 2014. I’m not sure if it’s because the movie is actually that great, or because people love watching Tom Cruise die. Either way, it’s a fun flick and I’ve always been curious to see how they could make a sequel that actually added more to a story that already seemed complete.
Talk of the sequel has gone on for at least two years, with director Doug Liman touting a follow-up called Live Die Repeat and Repeat. We also know that both Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt are unofficially on-board for another go at the franchise, but they won’t sign on until the story is in-place and worth telling. Now, Deadline is reporting that Matthew Robinson, the co-writer/co-direct behind 2009’s The Invention of Lying has pitched a new script to the studio and he’s been hired to take a shot at it. That means there’s still life in the sequel, but we aren’t going to know if the film is getting made for at least another 2-4 months.
