After seven seasons and 17 years, Adult Swim has cancelled one of their biggest fan-favorite series. News of the cancellation was confirmed by both the series creator, Christopher McCulloch, and voice actor James Urbaniak.
“Unfortunately, it’s true: Venture Bros. has been canceled. We got the highly disappointing news a few months ago, while we were writing what would have been Season 8. We thank you, our amazing fans, for 17 years of your kind (and patient) attention. And, as always, we love you.”
Christopher McCulloch
“So, as it must to all, cancellation has come for The Venture Bros. The pilot aired 17 years ago, which means the show was almost old enough to vote. It was one of the great gifts of my life [and] career. The fans were, quite simply, the best. Thank you, everybody. Go. Team. Venture!”
James Urbaniak
For fans of the series, this is a sad day, but we don’t think it is the end by any stretch of the imagination. Viewers are used to sometimes waiting 2-3 years between seasons for new Venture Bros. adventures, so this is probably just a small hiccup. With the strong fan-support that the show has, we’d be shocked if there isn’t an announcement from Netflix or another streamer that the show has been picked up for at least one more season to wrap things up.
