‘Walking Dead’ Season 10 Premiere Ratings – Are The Audiences Walking?

The Walking Dead has been dealing with a slow bleed when it comes to viewership over the last several seasons. With the premiere of season 10 on Sunday, it looks like that bleed is not going to stop any time soon.

The Sunday Night premiere of the series had a fairly anemic turn out of just 4 million live domestic viewers. This is in comparison to 6.1 million for the Season 9 premiere and 11 million for the season 8 premiere. What we don’t know at this time is how many viewers picked up the episode on demand since Sunday night. Either way, The Walking Dead doesn’t inspire the immediacy that it once did with viewers.

It’s already been announced that the show is coming back for season 11 and that Lauren Cohen will be coming back as Maggie. We also know that Michonne is bidding farewell to her fellow survivors during the current season and Rick will be back in a movie next year. If the current ratings don’t start to pick up, there’s a solid chance that Season 11 might prove to be the final for the foundational series of the Walking Dead Franchise. Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see what impact this viewer behavior will have on next year’s premiere of the new Walking Dead Universe YA series.
