Who knew that the bankruptcy of a major media conglomeration would be exactly the hail mary that Warren Beatty was looking for in his long and expensive quest to get the movie and TV rights for Dick Tracy.

THR is reporting that The judge in charge of Tribune’s Chapter 11 Bankruptcy will address the ongoing dispute with Beatty over the TV and movie rights for the iconic detective.

Tribune attorneys want the Delaware bankruptcy court to declare that the media company owns the rights. Attorneys for Beatty are pushing for a jury trial in California and plan to ask that Tribune’s filing be dismissed.
