WB’s ‘Green Lantern’ Race Narrows Down To Three

Warner Bros. has reportedly narrowed their search for their Hal Jordan in the studio’s latest DC comic epic, “Green Lantern.”

According to Hollywoodreporter, Warners has spent nearly five months with director Martin Campbel and producers Donald De Line and Greg Berlanti searching for an actor to play the hot-shot Air Force pilot who is chosen by a dying alien to be his successor in an intergalactic police force known as the Green Lanterns.

As of now, the race has narrowed to Bradley Cooper (The Hangover), Ryan Reynolds (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) and… Justin Timberlake (Alpha Dog).

So far two rounds of screen test has been ordered with Cooper, Reynolds and Timberlake. Other actors in the early mix included Michael Fassbender, Henry Cavill and Jared Leto.

Note, that Chris Pine of new Star Trek fame who was rumored early in the running has now been completely dropped from contention.

One issue that is sure to impact the casting process is the increasing budget which is expected to cost anywhere between $150 to $200 million.

With a scheduled December 2010 opening, WB still has a lot to decisions to make before production can even being.

So who will be the new Emerald Knight? Tune in, we believe announcements won’t be made until SDCC this year.
