It’s been officially-officially announced that horror mastermind Wes Craven, who directed the original trilogy, WILL indeed direct the next chapter of the Scream franchise.
Dimension film has greenlit the film, and “Scream 4” will begin shooting next month or so. It’s been more than a couple of years since “Scream 3” was released, but the original core cast consisting of Neve Campbell, David Arquette and Courteney Cox Arquette are slated to all return. They will join a new generation of characters who will surely all be butchered horribly.
The fourth film takes place 10 years later from where the last movie left off, in Sidney Prescott’s hometown of Woodsboro.
“Scream 4” has a tentative release date of April 15th 2011.
