Sure, we’ve still got a week to go before the first Doctor Strange movie comes out from Marvel, but you know we’re going to have a sequel. With reviews like this one’s getting, you can pretty much bet that it’ll be a big enough hit to warrant another chapter.
The idea of a sequel brings a big question to mind, just who will the Sorcerer Supreme take on in his next adventure? Apparently, this is something that the film’s director, Scott Derrickson, is already pondering. In a recent interview with IGN, the director said that Nightmare is high on his list.
“I really like the character of Nightmare and the concept that the Nightmare Realm is a dimension. […] That’s early – that’s like the first Strange tale. I think that’s in the introductory episode of Doctor Strange, and I always loved that.”
He loved the idea of Nightmare so much, that there was some thought to including him in the first movie, but shied away for some very logical reasons.
“We decided not to do that because that’s a bit of a complex idea to try to introduce everything we do introduce and introduce the idea of nightmares themselves as being a dimension.”
Doctor Strange hits theaters next Friday and stars Tilda Swinton, Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor,
Rachel McAdams, and Mads Mikkelsen.
