George Lucas’ Willow is one of those great movies that you either loved or don’t remember. The high fantasy tale starring Warwick Davis and Val Kilmer featuring a quest to save a baby, magic and plenty of shenanigans.
For a while now, we’ve heard talk that Ron Howard was developing the film for a new live-action series on Disney+. There have been rumors about it being a reboot and others about it being a direct sequel to the film. In a new interview with Collider, the subject of the show came up and here’s what Howard had to say:
“We are developing Willow for Disney Plus,” Howard said. “And I don’t know about directing or not, but Jon Kasdan is writing, he’s very passionate about it, great job. We don’t have a green light yet, but if it goes, I’ll certainly want to roll up my sleeves and be a part of that, because that would be great, to revisit that world.”
The only info he could offer on the details of the show is that Davis would be reprising his role from the film. That means it will definitely be a sequel series and not a reboot.
