Winnie the Pooh is now part of the public domain, so that means Disney no longer has control over the characters created by A.A. Milne. We knew it wouldn’t be long before other people and studios took advantage of the available IP and it looks like the first one to do it will be an Indie Filmmaker who is turning the characters from a child’s fantasy to pure nightmare fuel.
In Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, we’ll be getting what writer/director Rhys Frake-Waterfield and stars Amber Doig-Thorne, Maria Taylor, and Danielle Scott describe as a grisly retelling of the Winnie The Pooh legend. As of this point, we don’t know if the film will be about people in costumes of the characters or if these are the actual characters come to seek revenge on a grown-up Christopher Robin. What we do have are these stills thanks to Dread Central and it looks like some dark things are happening in the Hundred Acre Wood.
