Witcher Season 3 will be the last time Henry Cavill will suit up as Geralt of Rivia. Given that he quit the role after the season finished filming, fans aren’t expecting the new episodes to be very good, but Netflix really wants you to give them a shot. In fact, showrunner Lauren Hissrich is promising an iconic location from The Witcher 3 video game in the new season and that Cavill’s Geralt will get a heroic sendoff, in a new interview with EW.
On Cavill’s exit:
“Geralt’s big turn is about giving up neutrality and doing anything that he has to do to get to Ciri. And to me, it’s the most heroic sendoff that we could have, even though it wasn’t written to be that. Geralt has a new mission in mind when we come back to him in season 4. He’s a slightly different Geralt than we expected. Now, by the way, that’s an understatement.”
Meanwhile, the location being brought from video game to the small screen is Shaerrawedd. Here’s what Hissrich had to say about it:
“The set itself is one of the biggest we ever built. It was an interior-exterior set. Every shot is visual effects. Obviously, there’s a fight happening, but more than that, it is this big, open space. There are blue screens everywhere, so we are just now putting the final touches on it. Episode 1’s been done for ages, but it’s taken that long to get this setting right. I think it’s really important for the story.”
