For those of you who are looking forward to the next adventure of Wonder Woman on the big screen, don’t go in expecting the film to be a direct sequel of the first film Instead, be prepared for a stand-alone adventure, much in the same vein as James Bond films or the Christopher Reeves Superman movies.
In a new interview with Vulture, producer Charles Roven had this to say:
“[Jenkins] was just determined that this movie should be the next iteration of Wonder Woman but not a sequel. And she’s definitely delivering on that. It’s a completely different time frame and you’ll get a sense of what Diana-slash–Wonder Woman had been doing in the intervening years. But it’s a completely different story that we’re telling.”
He went on to explain that it’s definitely an installment in the Wonder Woman story, but it avoids the trappings of sequels by going more the route of James Bond or Indiana Jones.
