WWE star Dave Bautista (The Man with the Iron Fists) has been cast by Marvel to play Drax the Destroyer in Marvel’s much anticipated “Guardians of the Galaxy.”
Bautista beat out Isaiah Mustafa, Patrick Wade and Jason Momoa (Conan) for the role and will join Peter Quill, Star-Lord, as the second member cast for Marvel’s space epic.
Bautista was recently seen in RZA’s “The Man with the Iron Fists,” and will be featured in the upcoming “Riddick,” starring opposite Vin Diesel which hits theatres September 6th.
“Guardians of the Galaxy” tells the story of “a U.S. pilot who ends up in space in the middle of a universal conflict and goes on the run with futuristic ex-cons who have something everyone want.” Aside from Star-Lord and Drax, the team made up of more lesser-known superheroes will also include Rocket Raccoon, Groot and Gamora. If it’s anything like the recently released comic book, it will also feature Iron Man. Here’s to betting that he’ll at least make a cameo.
