Filmonic is reporting that Josh Schwartz’s “X-Men First Class,” is already setting its eyes on something more than just a single film. Buzz around the new Wolverine movie seems to have made the X-Men quite a hot property and Lauren Shuler Donner has dollar signs in her eyes and the sweet sound of franchise rolling off her lips.
“It is the first class of Xavier’s school, way back when, so it’s young Scott, young Jean, young Beast and that’ll be really fun,” Donner said. “I think (the plan) is to follow some of the characters into their own stories, and weave them back into the X-Men world.
“And hopefully First Class will become its own franchise and we can follow them as they grow up.”
She also acknowledged that a Magneto movie remains in development.
For those of you who can’t quite place the name of Schwartz, he’s the man behind the hit shows such as “The OC” and and the rating challenged “Chuck.”
