‘Y: The Last Man’ Begins Production Amidst Massive Casting Changes

Y: The Last Man has been inching its way towards a live-action adaptation for several years now. It was a movie, a trilogy of movies, and a series set for multiple networks. Now, after FX On Hulu has picked up the series after a pilot, production has finally begun on Brian K. Vaughan’s hit series.

As the show is beginning to film, it won’t look quite the same as the pilot that was greenlit. The Showrunner and lead actor on the series, Barry Keoghan, left shortly after the pilot and has now been replaced by Ben Schnetzer. Lashana Lynch, who was originally slated to play Agent 355 has now been replaced by Ashley Romans. And, Imogen Poots has been replaced in the role of Hero Brown by Olivia Thrilby. If you haven’t read the original comics (we suggest that you should), you’ll notice that we just mentioned three of the main characters in the entire story. Additionally, Variety is now reporting that Timothy Hutton will no longer be playing the role of the President of the US, with the role being switched over to Paul Gross.

Still on-board from the original casting are Diane Lane, Amber Tamblyn, Marin Ireland, Diana Bang, Elliot Fletcher and Juliana Canfield.
