As most you know, the story for Ready Player One takes place largely inside the virtual world of Oasis. The only way to play and interact within Oasis is to have your own avatar. Now, Ernest Cline, the author of the book, is presenting fans with a great opportunity to appear in the upcoming film (sort of).

All fans have to do is create their own avatar and submit it. The favorites will all be included in the film as Oasis avatars. While it’s not quite getting your face in the film, it is an awesome way to be a part of what will hopefully be a great Steven Spielberg movie.

A minimum of five selected artists will each:
Have their avatar design potentially appear in Ready Player One
Potentially receive exposure across the Ready Player One’s marketing materials and social media channels
Receive $1,000 in exchange for an Assignment of All Rights
Other artists may also be chosen and have their avatars possibly appear as background graffiti art in the film. These artists will receive $250 in exchange for an Assignment of All Rights.

From Steven Spielberg comes the action adventure READY PLAYER ONE, the much-anticipated big-screen adaptation of the groundbreaking bestseller by Ernest Cline.

In the year 2044, reality is an ugly place. The only time teenage Wade Watts (Tye Sheridan) really feels alive is when he’s jacked into the virtual utopia know as the OASIS. Wade’s devoted his life to studying the puzzles hidden within the confines of this digital world, puzzles that are based on their creator’s obsession with the pop culture of decades past and that promise massive power and fortune to whoever can unlock them. But when Wade stumbles upon the first clue, he finds himself beset by players willing to kill to take this ultimate prize. The race is on, and if Wade’s going to survive, he’ll have to win – and confront the real world he’s been so desperate to escape.

READY PLAYER ONE is being directed by Steven Spielberg, who is also producing the film with Donald De Line, Kristie Macosko Krieger and Dan Farah. The film stars Tye Sheridan, Olivia Cooke, Ben Mendelsohn with Simon Pegg and Mark Rylance.
