We aren’t sure why FOX, CBS, and NBC continue to put on these live performances of plays and films on their networks. They are almost always complete trainwrecks, with the biggest being the recent live-action performance of The Little Mermaid, where Shaggy walked around in a leather jacket pretending to be Sebastian The Crab. Now, the network is announcing that they’ve partnered up with comic Icon, Mel Brooks to bring Young Frankenstein to life in ‘Young Frankenstein Live!’
In case you are only familiar with the classic Gene Wilder film, Young Frankenstein has been previously adapted to stage for a Broadway Run by Brooks. The new TV performance will be of the musical and not of the movie. We just hope that Cloris Leachman is available to play Frau Blucher.
