Zack Snyder To Helm Kurosawa-Inspired Space Flick Rebel Moon @Netflix

Zack Snyder must have done pretty well with Army of The Dead for Netflix, because we are now getting word of his next project with the streaming network. While there aren’t a lot of details about the new film, titled Rebel Moon, it’s being called a mixture of Akira Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai and Star Wars.

Here’s the little bit we do know about the plot:

“a peaceful colony on the edge of the galaxy is threatened by the armies of a tyrannical regent named Balisarius. Desperate people dispatch a young woman with a mysterious past to seek out warriors from neighboring planets to help them make a stand.”

In a conversation with THR  about the new project, here’s what Snyder had to say:

“This is me growing up as an Akira Kurosawa fan, a Star Wars fan. It’s my love of sci-fi and a giant adventure. My hope is that this also becomes a massive IP and a universe that can be built out. I’ve been working on this on the side for so long, it’s pretty far along.”
