We all came to love Zombieland as a movie, but when Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese first thought up the idea, they saw it as a TV series. That’s why the movie had things in it like The Zombie Kill of The Week. For the last year or two, we’ve been hearing about an impending sequel for the film and everyone is pretty stoked about it. It is actually the kind of movie that people want to see more of.
Now word is coming down that FOX and Sony want to see a Zombieland TV series on the small screen some time in the 2012-2013 season. This sounds like a good thing at first, but don’t count your zombies before they’ve been double tapped. If the TV series happens, we can pretty much kiss the sequel good bye.
Here’s what Reese had to say on the issue.
“We always thought [it should be a TV series]. If you watch the movie with that in mind, you will see some remnants of the television show. We have the ‘Zombie Kill of the Week,’ which was always intended to happen every week. The movie ends on a cliffhanger; it doesn’t have a real resolution.”
