Maybe in a perfect world Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the brilliant writers of “Zombieland,” would pen the script the the “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” spin-off, “Deadpool.” Oh wait, what’s this!? According to CHUD, it’s rumored that they are indeed close to singing a deal to penning the Fox spin-off script! Wow, maybe dreams really do come true.
In all seriousness, while this is just pre-buzz and nothing is set in stone yet, there is a very good possibility that the “Zombieland” duo will adapt the tale of everyone’s favorite Merc With A Mouth. With that said, “Deadpool’s” stock just went up, and my excitement for the film is now through the roof! Just image a mix between Jesse Eisenberg’s Columbus combined with the deadpan violent humor that is of Woody Harrelson’s Tallahassee, and you pretty much have Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool. A horrible disfigured violent mutant with one-liners who babbles non-stop.
With the horrendous butchering of Deadpool by Fox in the “Wolverine” my faith is slowly renewed with this news especially since Reynolds has come out saying that Deadpool will remain faithful to it comic book origin. If Reynolds can come close to Harrelson in terms of bad-assness in “Deadpool,” there is hope for this spin-off, heck, maybe even this franchise, after all.
