Boasting more than 1,100 exhibiting companies, American International Toy Fair celebrates its 108th year this year at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York. As huge toy fans and collectors, YBMW was able to attend this year and like the stories, being at the largest Toy show in Northern America was both legendary if not also torturous. I mean, what good are toys when you can just look but not have right-at-this-minute, right? Guess not much has changed since our youth when we were kids salivating and wide-eyed in toy stores.
Some of the highlights on display include Mattel’s much anticipated Green Lantern line and their newest line based on Cartoon Network’s Young Justice. Some of our personal favorites also included new announcement for wave 18 of DC Universe Classics, as well as the fan-favorite Masters of the Universe Classics line.
Not to be outdone, Hasbro had a terrific showing with their new Thor and Captain America lines based on the upcoming movies. They also made a splash with the reveal of upcoming wave 3 and 4 of Marvel Universe figures and an update on the fan favorite 6″ Marvel Legends line. Other Hasbro highlights include the new Transformers: Dark of the Moon toys and their ever beloved Star Wars (vintage!) and G.I. Joe lines.
Below are some general show room images from DC Direct, Diamond Select, Squareenix and various companies. We’ll hope to have more to share as the convention continues tomorrow.
