Firefly, The Little Laser Lamp

Upon first glance, the Firefly is just an unassuming dodecahedron the size of a baseball. Then, when you plug it in or pop in a few batteries, it literally lights up your world. From within that little baseball comes over 100 points of light, all shining up to 100 feet onto any surface. Wherever those points hit, they create a mini light source. It’s great for lighting small areas like a crawl space, or creating the ultimate Matrix style night light!

The Oxx Coffeeboxx

The OXX Coffeeboxx is not one of those dainty little single serve coffee makers that looks cute on your counter. This is the coffee maker that takes that one out back and kicks it’s butt. Yes, it’s still a K-cup coffee maker at heart, but this is the most rugged coffee maker we’ve literally ever come across. It was designed to be used on construction sites, while out in your RV, or possibly in your command tent while invading Russia in the dead of winter. If there’s any drawback, it’s that the coffeemaker is a little on the husky side, (just over 12 lbs), but then gain, try dropping your keurig off the back of your tailgate and see if it’s still giving you that hot caffeine injection a couple minutes later. No, your keurig would be dead, and the OXX would be dancing on its grave and serving up 10 8 oz cups per refillable water tank until the cows come home.

The Petzi

The Petzi is one of those things that is going to be hot this year for pet owners. The petzi allows you to remotely look at and give treats to your dog or cat via an app on your cell phone from anywhere in the world. With just a click of a button, you can turn on the camera and see your pet, you can talk to them through the app and they’ll hear you through the Petzi in your home, and then you can dispense tasty little treats to them. We almost wonder if this is a good solution for parents who can’t find a babysitter… Probably best to keep this one for the puppies and kittens. They’ll appreciate it more, and you won’t get yelled at on Tumblr.

Mova Globes

There are few gift items that really leave everyone in the office speechless. The mova globe did just that. To be honest, you don’t expect that much from it when you open the box, but when you set your globe (we got Jupiter) down on it’s base and then it just starts to smoothly spin around and around… it’s mesmerizing. It uses a combination of geomagnetic and solar energy to create near perpetual motion and the artwork for it is created detailed maps or highly detailed satellite renderings. You can pick it up and it keeps spinning inside it’s shell. The moving parts on inside the globe on a thin liquid barrier that helps keeps moving things along. Holding it in our hands, we kinda felt a little bit like Jareth. It was like watching a mini version of Jupiter right in our office. If space isn’t your thing, they’ve got different sports balls, and vintage world maps. They’ve even got some special holiday versions. If they ever get a Death Star, we are buying it immediately!

Hoverkraft Levitating Construction Challenge

If you are looking for a game that’s fun for family and even more fun after a couple drinks this holiday season, consider Think Geek’s Hover Kraft. It can take a couple minutes to get used to, but the game is pretty much like Jenga on a floating platform of magnets. We tested this one out with a large group and everyone from the kids who thought it was magic, to the grandparents who thought it was weird, all had a great time with it.

SuperNova Light Cube LED Bluetooth Speaker

We have a couple of different speakers on this year’s guide, but they are each different in their own special way. The Supernova is the one we suggest for people who love a good light show. Seriously, the Supernova has 36 different light show modes that are all easily changed by a dial on the back of the speaker. Set this up in a dark room or in your office and it’s better than going to check out the Zepplin laser show at the planetarium. Beyond the light, it’s actually a hell of a good speaker. it’s got great volume and a nice rich sound to it. Some of the blue tooth speakers on the market are pretty tinny, but we got a warm rich sound out of the Supernova.

Hachiko Dog Activity Tracker

Sadly, a lot of people forget their dogs during the holidays. They deserve presents too, and we aren’t just talking about a silly little piece of rawhide. Since most dog owners now have a fitbit or something like it, the time has come for dogs to have their own activity trackers as well. The Hachiko slips right onto your dog’s collar and will change your pup’s life! Along with giving you real time tracking on feedings and treats (you know… in case he’s getting a little pudgy), the Hachiko also lets you track your dog’s steps in real time so you know where he is and how much moving around he’s actually doing! Sure, your dog might not realize that you even gave him this gift, but he’ll live a much healthier life with it around his neck.

Sleep Phones blue tooth sleep headphones and baby sheep

The same company that makes the runphones also makes special headphones for sleeping. There’s a lot of people who can’t fall asleep without music. Sadly, the people with whom they share a bed do not always want extra sound while they are dreaming. This bluetooth version of the sleep headphones allow you to have a comfy little band with the headphones built right in. It’s remarkably comfortable to sleep in. As an added benefit, you can also buy a super soft plush sheep and put the headphones inside of it. Because it is a straight bluetooth connection from your phone, you can also pre-record messages for your baby. This is especially great if one of the parents has to travel a lot or is stationed over seas in the military.
