This is confusing. It’s been over a decade since we last saw a Movie Maniacs figure from Todd McFarlane, but they all looked better than the ones he’s now unveiled. Additionally, he’s shifted from making the figures widely available to making them each a limited-edition affair in an attempt to increase demand.
The figures included in Wave 6 of the Movie Maniacs line are: Harry Potter, The Wicked Witch of The West (Wizard of Oz), Bugs Bunny as Superman, and Ted Lasso. Each figure comes with a base, a collector’s card, and a certificate of authenticity. This wave was created specifically to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Warner Bros. Ted Lasso is a great show, but if you are picking four characters to celebrate a century of excellence, it doesn’t make a lot of sense to include him here, let alone to make him the most widely available figure.
The edition sizes for each of posed 6″ figures are as follows:
Bugs Bunny – 7,500
Wicked Witch – 10,000
Harry Potter – 10,000
Ted Lasso – 20,000
In the end, this doesn’t feel like the Movie Maniacs line. It feels like McFarlane got the chance to do a WB 100 line and didn’t know where to put it.
