What started out as a mysterious incident has turned into one of the saddest stories that you’ll hear today. A man was having a nice day of fishing when all of a sudden, a dog swam up to his boat. This wouldn’t be a big deal… but the boat was a half mile out to sea. The man rescued the dog and brought him to shore. He took him to the vet where the dog’s chip would be checked and he would be returned to his owner. First, here’s the vid of the rescue.
This is where the story takes a turn. The dog was owned by Donna Chen. It turns out that a drunk driver had just killed Donna and, in fear, the dog jumped into the Gulf of Mexico and took off swimming. Had he not found the kayaker, he too would have died.
It turns out that the driver, 22 year old Blake C. Talman was driving drunk at 1 pm, when he lost control of his car, hit Donna Chen as she was walking her dog and then caused another 2 car accident and did damage to the property of a church.
Talman was eventually arrested and charged with DUI manslaughter and DUI property damage and personal injury. His bail is set at $100,000
