When we poke fun at a school for sending a kid home because of their Wonder Woman lunch box that’s one thing. When a kid gets arrested because his teacher looks at the clock he made and assumes that it’s the detonator for a bomb, then reports him and gets him arrested, it’s a whole other thing.
From the teacher to the school administrator, to the police chief (who is going out of his way to tell everyone that he loves Muslims), everyone is saying that it had nothing to do with the color of his skin or the fact the 14 year old boy was named Ahmed Mohamed.
While looking at a photo of himself in handcuffs, Ahmed said:
“I was really mad. I was like, ‘Why am I here?’”
On the upside, the story looks like it’s come to a very quick and happy resolution, even the president has gotten involved and invited Ahmed to the Whitehouse… but he has to bring the clock.
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg added on Twitter that Ahmed should visit Facebook HQ and keep building
“The skill and ambition to build something cool should lead to applause, not arrest. The future belongs to people like Ahmed.”
Once she realized that everyone else was already on board, Hillary Clinton decided it was time for her to also send a spontaneous tweet of support.
